Homework for 2-22

2-22-12
Grant Snodgrass
Rough Draft of Talk
I really want this talk to be pretty casual and laid back, but still sort of deep. I think I have two subjects which can be very influential, so I think its important to capture that. I also really do not know what the format for the talk and pictures is going to be like, this is just my rough draft.
“Hey, my name is Grant Snodgrass! For the past two months or so, I had the privilege to capture, through photography, two really impacting topics on how God interacts in the world around me. Those two subjects are: spouse/significant other and society/the lost. I really enjoyed thinking about and photographing these two subjects.
On the topic of spouse/significant other, I really wanted to show how relationships are a gift from God and how we can benefit from them. When God made humans, He did not make just a man or just a woman; He made both. I believe this is because men and women are meant to have a relationship with one another and not be alone. I am fortunate to have a really great mother and father who demonstrate this connection for me.
The second subject, society/the lost, I particularly enjoyed. I really feel like this is one of the biggest places God interacts with us. If you look around you, where you live and the people who are there, that is your society. Here in Portland, there is, for sure, an interesting society of people. There is a pretty big mixture and in it there is definitely a good amount of those who are lost. It says in Mark 2:12,“On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick." I think this is a really cool point which relates to the topic “the lost”. Everywhere around us there are those who are lost, including ourselves in some ways. I think we just have to be open to let God work through us with those who are lost and less fortunate than we are."
